Project Review: Congdon Porch Restoration

JM Inc. recently wrapped up a porch restoration project in the Congdon neighborhood of Duluth. These were past clients who reached out wanting to update their front porch and repair their pillar structures. There was a significant amount of rotted wood in the decking and visible cracks throughout the pillars.

For the project, our team tore up the rotted wood and replaced it with new cedar decking. We made repairs to the ceiling of the porch roof, removed the railings, and tore up the existing EPDM rubber. We then installed new 60mil EPDM rubber and flashing on the porch roof.

New masonry end posts were built on the porch, and solar lights installed on top of them to brighten the space. We replaced the damaged columns with new fiberglass architectural columns, and finished the project off with new custom railings on the top porch and main deck, as well as the sidewalk entrance stairs.
